So, this cocktail, The Manhattan, has damaged friendships, but it was worth it.

Girl: What’s that?Me: A Manhattan.Girl: It’s pink.Me: Your point being?Girl: It looks girly.Me: I assure you, it really isn’t.Girl: It’s in a martini glass with a cherry, it’s girly.Me: And you’re manly, good day sir.Girl: Excuse me?Me: I SAID “GOOD DAY.”

This is a must-have for those who really do enjoy whiskey. The heart of the drink depends on what kind of whiskey you choose for the drink. My personal go-to for this drink is Maker’s Mark, it always has a smoother finish and a real nice taste. Some may go with a higher rye-whiskey like Wild Turkey, or a classic Canadian like Crown Royal.
This is a martini-style cocktail, so you’ll pour all of the liquor into a mixing tin with ice, shake, then strain the ingredients into a martini glass, then let a single cherry sink to the bottom of the glass.
If you haven’t developed your taste for better whiskey, I’d avoid this drink…and I wouldn’t dare sully the cocktail with Jack Daniel’s whiskey…nothing against the popular liquor, but it just has too rough of a finish and would take away from the enjoyment of a fine cocktail like the Manhattan.
Stay classy.
